South Western Splendour – 8 Day 5* Luxury Private Tour

Day 1: Arrival in Cork

Welcome to Cork! After landing at Cork Airport, you’ll be driven to Hayfield Manor, a stylish and luxurious hotel where you can unwind in true Irish elegance. Cork has a lot to offer, but take the evening to relax and enjoy a gourmet dinner at one of the city’s best restaurants.

Option to visit Blarney Castle and Gardens and explore Blarney Woollen Mills.

Overnight in Hayfield Manor Hotel. 

Day 2: Explore Cork City

Start the day with a visit to Cork City, famous for its vibrant culture and food scene. Wander through the English Market, where you can sample local delicacies like artisan cheeses and fresh fish. Then, head over to St. Finbarr’s Cathedral, an architectural masterpiece or visit The Stone Corridor in University College Cork where you can learn about Ogham writing.

 After lunch, explore Cobh, known for its maritime history, including the Titanic Experience, where you can learn about the last  port of call for the Titanic. Do not miss a chance to see the magnificent St. Colmans Cathedral.

Visit Blarney Castle and Gardens if unable to do so on Day 1.

Day 3: Explore Kinsale & West Cork

After the hustle and bustle of Cork City, we will head west to Kinsale to experience the colourful streets of this charming harbour town known as the culinary capital of Ireland.

We will explore the 17th century Charles Fort, one of the best preserved star shaped forts in all of Europe. The Garden of Remembrance is a sombre reminder of the 9/11 tragedy.

The wonderful scenery at The Old Head is followed by a coastal drive past Garretstown Beach, Clonakilty, Drombeg Stone Circle and Glandore. If time allows, visit the relaxing haven of Glengarriff and take the short boat trip to Garnish Island with its magnificent gardens.

Day 4: Explore Killarney National Park

Time to bid farewell to Cork and head for the Kingdom of Kerry.

First stop is Kenmare which nestles at the mouth of Kenmare Bay and is a shopper’s paradise. Continue over the mountains through Moll’s Gap and Ladies View before arriving at Torc Waterfall.

Next stop is Killarney National Park, one of Ireland’s finest natural gems. We’ll visit the stunning Muckross House and take a peaceful boat ride on Lough Leane. Surrounded by lakes, mountains, and woodlands, the park is a dream for nature lovers.

Day 5: Explore the Ring of Kerry

Today’s all about the Ring of Kerry, one of Ireland’s most famous scenic drives.

Along the route, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the mountains and coastline.  It’s a route that will leave you breathless at every turn, especially the detour on The Skellig Ring, Valentia Island and the spectacular Kerry Cliffs.

We then climb over Cum an Easpaig and drop into the tranquil, peaceful valley known as The Glen. A special treat is in store for chocolate lovers at the Skellig Chocolate Factory before we head back to unwind at our hotel.

Day 6: Limerick & Clare

Today we head up the West through Co Limerick and into the Banner County of Clare.

On the way, we will stop at the picture-postcard village of Adare with its beautiful thatched cottages and we can explore the wonderfully restored Bunratty Castle and Folk Park.

You will have the opportunity to finish in the early afternoon and enjoy the magnificent grounds of Dromoland Castle and partake in some of the many and varied activities on offer.

Day 7: Cliffs of Moher & The Burren

Prepare for an unforgettable day in County Clare.

First up, the iconic Cliffs of Moher – these dramatic cliffs rise 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean.

Then we’ll visit the Burren, a vast limestone landscape that’s home to unique flora and fauna. Finally, explore the mysterious Ailwee Cave – a natural wonder that’s over 1 million years old.

Another opportunity to enjoy some of the activities on offer at the magnificent Dromoland Castle.

Day 8: County Galway

Today we’ll explore the charming streets of Galway City, known for its lively atmosphere and artistic vibe.

It’s then time for us to delve into  Connemara, an area famous for its rugged mountains, lakes, bogs and windswept beauty.

Kylemore Abbey with its splendid Victorian Walled Garden is a must-see.

If time allows, we will visit Connemara National Park and enjoy a lively stroll up Diamond Hill, from where we get panoramic views of Western Connemara and The Twelve Bens.

Day 9: Time to say farewell

After an unforgettable adventure through Cork, Kerry, Clare, and Galway, we’ll transfer you back to Cork Airport or Shannon Airport for your flight home.
